What is Flux?

Grote's Answer

Flux is the total output of a lamp within a unit of time.  For example, if it takes 5 seconds to fill up a 5 gallon bucket, the flux of water from the hose would be 1 gallon per second.  That stands regardless of where the hose is pointed.  For water, flux is determined by the diameter of the hose and the water pressure within the hose.  For a lamp the flux is determined by the power of the light source.
